Beside the sea
A voice recording of Mindful Reflections on the effect of the sea on a sunny day
I haven’t posted here for a few weeks because my mind got caught in a doom loop that nobody is interested in what I have to say so there’s no point in writing 🤦♀️
I’m still not sure what I want to write about. This evening I had the idea to do something different. Instead of writing something for you in which I am struggling to know what to say I thought you might be interested in listening to this recording which is very much a stream of consciousness commentary on what I’m thinking and feeling as I sit and stare at the sea.
At the moment I am taking part in some research for a Doctoral student who is investigating the effect of staring at the sea. In this part of her research she has asked for ‘in the moment’ voice recordings.
Listening to the recording I notice how much I slow down. This is not a quick brain dump, not a ‘get it down as fast as possible’ commentary. There is a languid quality, a slowing down in order to pay attention to what I am noticing in mind, body and feelings from a sensory experience. I hope this quality communicates itself to you so that you too can take a pause while you listen.
I wrote about my love affair with the sea in an earlier post - see below.
